Morning at the Park

Almost a year has passed since the adoption of my two little nephews from Russia...I just can't believe it! It seems like they've always been a part of our family and I can't imagine life without them. Gosh, do I love these buggers!

Anyway, Thursday's are my brothers day off and the night we have "family night" each week at my mom & dad's house. Today, on their way out to Granny's house, Penny asked if I'd meet them at a local park to do some "post-placement" pictures for their agency. It's just another part of the process and, of course, I was more than happy to oblige. I loaded in their van and brought my two assistants with me (Mollie & Benjamin). Mollie toted my brother's camera and snapped me, snapping my nephews. Click here to see what we came away with this beautiful South Florida winter day.

Blast from the Past...






About 14 years ago I had a toddler and an infant in my care, just getting my feet wet in mothering. Next door to us lived a precious family with a beautiful daughter who happened to be just the right age to babysit these two little ones in our possession. Today, that young teenager is a grown woman, now married and even though we've since moved from that neighborhood, I've never lost touch with the family who I still think so fondly of. Today, I had the honor of photographing our aforementioned former babysitter & her loving husband. What a joy it was to capture their images! Time surely does quickly pass us by as I experienced first hand today as I snapped away at a beautiful local park in sunny south Florida just days before Christmas. What a gift!

Kaiser Family

Just before we left for Thanksgiving vacation I had the opportunity to do some photos for our Kaiser family friends. They were a lot of fun and very photogenic as you can see. It's neat to see every family's personality come through in the images my SLR captures.

With Christmas quickly approaching, there will be many great photo opportunities. Beach & Backyard Photos

Last night we made our way over to Palm Beach for family photo time. Unfortunately we were rushed for daylight by getting down there at almost 8 o'clock. We were able to knock of a couple of decent shots, but I wasn't crazy about the quality. I had to use a high ISO and the shutter speed dropped. I'm still getting this lighting thing down. I really hate using a flash so I guess I just need more practice playing with the camera settings in low light conditions. Anyway, we decided to try again with morning light today and made for the backyard. I was happier with these after I remembered to bring the ISO back down. So here you go with a few of my favorites...
