Smut....
...that's what I refer to them as. You know, the gossip rags we all see at the grocery store check-out -- Star Magazine, National Enquirer and many others that line the racks that, due to our hunger for reveling in others' flaws, beckon us to peruse at our leisure. Well, that's what the national media has become. SmutTV! Katie Couric, Meridith Viera, Matt Lauer and others are no longer reporters. They are scandalmongers, busybodies and muckraker's! I refuse to fall into their trap of attempting to remove the focus of the American people from real political coverage by creating a diversion through the obsession over the private challenges of a respected and devoted family. A family that happens to have had enough guts to willingly step into the glaring spotlight of these gossipmongers! I will not participate!Labels: politics

I agree 100% with your comment, Bethany.
I'm interested to see how the coverage plays out throughout the course of the pregnancy, now. What an amazing opportunity to demonstrate the real power of choice: with one (admittedly poor) choice already made, Bristol and her family will now demonstrate what it means to choose life through life. She could have chosen adoption and instead will choose marriage, both of which are great choices.
I am proud of this family for being upfront and open, and showing the country how to walk the talk.
How about honesty! Here she is, admitting to the nation, or rather the world, that she made a mistake. But, realizes that a living child was created. A child who deserves to live. Way to go. I only hope that I could be that type of mom if in a similar situation.
I have a feeling a lot of Americans out there share our sentiments, girls!
Thanks for popping in, Christy:)
